SMG Announces New Physician and Schedule Update http://smg.stanford.edu/smg-blog/archive/2006/05/smg_announces_n.html SMG announces our newest physician, Dr. Maja Artandi, who starts May 1, 2006 at our Blake Wilbur Clinic Location. Dr. Artandi completed her residency at Stanford Hospital and Clinics in 2004 and has worked with SMG previously to help cover physician vacations and leaves. We are very pleased that Dr. Artandi has become part of our group. She will also be covering Dr. Sharp's practice as he decreases his time to assume an important physician leadership position within the Information Technology group at Stanford Hospital and Clinics. Dr. Artandi's practice is open to new patients.

Several other SMG physicians have also recently adjusted their schedules:


  • Dr. Paul Ford - added Thursday mornings
  • Dr. Kathleen Kenny - added Wednesday afternoons
  • Dr. Christopher Sharp - reduced his clinic time and adjusted his schedule in order to assume a newly created physician leadership position within Stanford Hospital and Clinics Information Technology group. He will be sharing his practice with Dr. Maja Artanda.

Service Workers 24 Hour Strike Set Monday, 12/12/05 http://smg.stanford.edu/smg-blog/archive/2005/12/service_workers.html Stanford University and Stanford Hospital have been notified that the union representing service workers has planned a 24 hour strike starting at 5 am 12/12/05, Monday.

For patients of Stanford Medical Group, the only inconvenience will that the blood drawing stations on the first floor of the Blake Wilbur Clinic building and the station on the third floor of the Hoover Pavilion will be closed on Monday, December 12, 2005. Both blood drawing stations will resume normal operations on Tuesday, December 13, 2005.

If you require a blood draw on Monday, December 12, 2005 please proceed to the main hospital lab which wil be open 24/7. The lab is located on the first floor, number 12, on the map.

We do not anticipate any other effects of this strike on the care which we deliver at Stanford Medical Group. Please email your physician if you have any further questions.

The influenza vaccine will be offered to all patients of SMG. Following the completion of the annual influenza vaccine clinic, if we have sufficient supplies, we will offer the vaccine in clinic after 11/7/05 until our supply is exhausted or we complete the prime vaccination period for 2005-6.

Hurricane Katrina Information http://smg.stanford.edu/smg-blog/archive/2005/09/hurricane_katri_1.html Volunteers planning to travel to the affected Gulf Coast states of Louisianna, Mississippi, and Alabama should review the worker safety recommendations issued by the CDC.

The only vaccinations recommended are tetanus and diphtheria toxoid (receipt of primary series, and Td booster within 10 years) and hepatitis B series if you are planning to provide patient care.

Overview of general recommendations regarding hurricane associated health conditions are available from the CDC.
